To mark the release of the monograph Christian SORG Au cœur de la peinture, recently published by ARTEOS under the direction of Victor Vanoosten (304 pp., bilingual edition), Dutko Gallery is pleased to invite you to an evening event with the artist for a book signing
« CHRISTIAN SORG Au cœur de la peinture »
The gallery will present a selection of his artworks and screen the short film Arcy by director Romain Sorg (two screenings scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.).
The evening will continue with a cocktail reception at the Hôtel du Quai Voltaire - located next to the gallery - where the monograph will be available.
At the turn of the 1980s, Sorg embodied the renewal of Abstraction in France. This book highlights the uniqueness of his exemplary career, spanning sixty years at the heart of painting (au cœur de la peinture).
The monograph includes an essay by Michel Crépu titled “ Si la peinture existe ”, an in-depth interview with Victor Vanoosten titled “ la peinture et la vie ” as well as photographs by Jean Marie del Moral “ dialogues d'ateliers ”.
The publication also features excerpts from texts and conversations about his work as well as writings by those who knew him and those who closely still follow his creative process: Marcelin Pleynet, Jean Frémon, Annie Cohen-Solal, Àlex Susanna, Ángel Crespo, Hubert Lucot, Élisabeth Couturier, Olivier Cena, Sylvain Amic, Claude Lorent, Christian Noorbergen and François Jeune.
The short film Arcy, directed by Romain Sorg, is a cinematographic document shot in the Arcy-sur-Cure caves, which features cave paintings. In 2021 Christian Sorg undertook a project in this silent setting thus capturing the core for this film.
The painting Arcy, 2021 will be exhibited at this event.
